About Whole Health Pediatrics:
Whole Health Pediatrics is an appointment-based pediatric medical practice offering both General Pediatrics and Integrative Pediatric Medicine. This allows families to have a familiar pediatric home for everyday care, with the option to go deeper when needed.
Dr. Laura McDermott, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician with additional training in Integrative and Functional Medicine. General pediatric visits include preventive care, sick visits, and a wide range of health and behavioral concerns, all approached with a whole-child perspective.
Integrative Pediatric Medicine visits are longer, more in-depth appointments designed for children who benefit from a more individualized approach. These visits focus on root-cause evaluation, connecting symptoms to underlying factors, and creating personalized care plans.
Many families start with a General Pediatrics visit for immediate needs, while choosing Integrative Pediatric Medicine visits when a more comprehensive, in-depth approach is needed.
Because these visit types differ in structure and time, they are scheduled separately.
Same-day appointments are available for sick visits and general pediatric visits. Integrative Pediatric Medicine visits are scheduled separately due to their longer, in-depth format. We do not offer walk-in or emergency care.
At Whole Health Pediatrics, children may present with similar symptoms, but the underlying causes are often different. Care may include medical evaluation, lifestyle guidance, nutrition support, and appropriate testing when indicated, allowing for both practical day-to-day care and a more tailored approach when needed.
We care for children from birth through age 18, including:
Empowering children's health journeys with compassion and expertise.

Insurances
We can provide an itemized superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement after you have made payment to our office. Many insurers provide reimbursements for an “out-of-network” provider but this will vary depending on your specific plan. If you have a PPO insurance plan and have met your deductible, it is likely that a large percentage of the charges will be reimbursed to you at the out-of-network rate. You can usually obtain claim submission forms on the website of your insurance carrier. In addition, services may be applied towards qualified medical expenses if you have a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) through your employer or Health Savings Account (HSA).
You do not need a referral to be seen at Whole Health Pediatrics. Some insurances will only reimburse with a prior authorization (approved referral). You would need to check with your insurance company to see if that applies.
After an appointment is scheduled, you will be asked to fill out an in-depth questionnaire. This is required to be completed at least 72 hours before your scheduled appointment. This way, Dr. McDermott has the opportunity to read through the responses, review any medical history/paperwork from previous providers/specialists, and research to prepare for the clinic visit. During the visit, vitals will be taken, an applicable physical exam performed, and further discussion of the concern. Dr. McDermott uses a collaborative approach with the family to determine the next steps forward.
For sick visits and physicals the cost is $150 for a 30 minute visit. For Integrative medicine, the 1 hour intake visit is $360. Charges are $90 for every 15 minutes and follow up visits will tend to last 15-30 minutes ($90-$180). You only pay for the time in the clinic/telemedicine visits. Included in the cost is the review of all questionnaires, available records, time spent researching, as well as the clinic time with Dr. McDermott. Unlike other clinics where you fill out paperwork in the office, with Whole Health Pediatrics you will electronically fill out the questionnaire a minimum of 72 hours prior to the appointment. The goal is to get information ahead of time so the time in the clinic is efficient, productive to allow time to develop a thorough plan forward for the family. Please keep in mind that Whole Health Pediatrics does not charge to set up accounts, an annual or monthly fee. If needed, the family will pay for any labs, imaging, prescriptions, or supplements.
Dr. Laura McDermott
Dr. Laura McDermott, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician with additional training in Integrative and Functional Medicine. As a mom of two boys, she understands firsthand the challenges families face when navigating their children’s health in a fast-paced world.
From the beginning of her career, Dr. McDermott was drawn to pediatrics, not only for her love of working with children from newborns to teens, but for the unique opportunity to prioritize prevention and partner with families to support long-term health.
After years in a traditional outpatient clinic, she recognized that the standard model often didn’t allow enough time for a truly thorough evaluation. This led her to pursue advanced training in Integrative and Functional Medicine, allowing her to look beyond symptoms and better understand the full picture of a child’s health.
At Whole Health Pediatrics, Dr. McDermott provides comprehensive pediatric care, applying an integrative lens to general pediatric visits while also offering more in-depth evaluations when needed. She partners with families to make thoughtful, practical decisions that support each child’s overall health and development.
